Welcome to Guelaguetza, where the authentic flavors of Mexico come to life in every dish. Our story began three years ago when the owners, Erika and Fernando, embarked on this passionate project: a Mexican restaurant in Toronto. Their mission was clear from the start: to offer customers the true taste of Mexico. Fernando, originally from León, Guanajuato, and Erika, from Tuxtepec, Oaxaca, share a deep love for Mexico's rich culinary tradition.
Guelaguetza comes from a Zapotec word that, in its broadest sense, refers to sharing nature, life, customs, traditions of our ancestors, and love for others. Guelaguetza is the result of those sweet Sunday mornings spent with family, enjoying the delicious typical dishes of Oaxaca. That same feeling and flavor inspire and drive us to convey it in every one of our dishes, using love as the main ingredient. We want everyone who tastes our food to feel at home, transported to a corner of Mexico in Toronto.
